Win $100-$800 in Cash at Flashmint Contest!

Flashmint Contest

The festival of creativity is going to take place at Flashmint.com. We are announcing a Contest for Flashmint Blog Design to begin at August, 1st. Those of you with creative minds are welcomed to participate and Flashmint will reward the most creative and original works generously.

So, here is what we need - a custom WordPress theme for our FlashMint Blog.

It should come with the following features:

  • 3 columns;
  • fixed width (optimized to 1024×768 resolution) and widget support;
  • coded;
  • the colors and style of the theme should correspond to Flashmint design!

How it works? Just submit a zip file and a screenshot (300*300px) in the submission form below from August, 1st  till September, 1st. The winner, chosen by our team, will be announced in next 2-3 days and get the prize money - $500.
But keep in mind that all other worthy designs will be showcased at Flashmint blog along with the links to their developers’ websites.

Note that if your wordpress design is not chosen as winning, you are allowed to use it for any purposes providing that there are not any graphics associated with Flashmint in it.

To make your work on design easier, we are providing you with the The PSD of Flashmint logo so that you could apply it for your future design. Download it here

Hurry up! There’s not much time left.

But this is not all! The second part of the contest is of great interest for the bloggers. Bring the largest number of visitors to our website from August, 1st till September, 1st! The prizes are $300, $200 and $100 for the bloggers who will have attracted the first, second, third largest number of visitors respectively.

What should you do? The rules are quite simple:

  • write a blogpost about our Contest and link back to Flashmint website from your blog by adding a code fragment into the post. Get the code here.
  • OR

  • just add the code fragment under your latest post. Get the code here.
  • Surely you can make minor changes in the text of the paragraph at your discretion, the only request is to leave the anchor texts just as they are, and the links should be “dofollow”.

And if you do not feel confident that your blog can attract a highly competitive number of visitors, do not hesitate to participate!  ALL the other participants whose blogs will not have scored enough referrers for the first three places will get a free PR 4 backlink to their website. Good luck!

Everything is great except for the code fragment you added into your post. The text “Flash Web Templates” should lead to http://www.flashmint.com/.

  6. flashmint says:

    narendra.s.v,

Okay, you can code it if you win.
And if you win both competitions among bloggers and designers, you’ll get both prizes. I wish you luck!

    ok
where do we need to send the visitor?
    is it to
    http://www.flashmint.com/
    or
    http://www.flashmint.com/wp/ ?
if visitors come to both of your sites from my blog
    would they count?
Also how many visitors came till now from top blog :)

  8. flashmint says:

    Abhinav,

You need to send visitors both to http://www.flashmint.com/ and http://www.flashmint.com/wp/. As a result, we will count the total number of visitors you’ll lead to flashmint.com and flashmint blog.

  9. den says:

Yes, there should be the space for widgets.

  12. m.dinesh says:

This competition is getting bigger and bigger.
Even i was the first one to post about the contest, I cant guess in which position I am.
I even included the link in forums.
Just i will hope the best.

  13. Barbara Baker says:

Well, although I can not “design” worth the flap…I could not skip the opportunity to enter this giveaway; so I opted for the final option wich was to add the code to the bottom of my latest post (hope this does the trick)…

This is a great opportunity for all and everyone can end up being a winner!!! And that’s always a good thing!!!!

  14. flashmint says:

ATTENTION everybody! I have a favour to ask of everybody who has added the code fragment into their blogs. Please check out the code which you pasted.
If you have a backward link to one of these pages: http://www.flashmint.com/show-type-flash.html OR http://www.flashmint.com/show-type-flash-cms.html, please remove “/” after .html.
    Thanks.

  15. m.dinesh says:

I dint add these links because they were not specified before.

  20. m.dinesh says:

    @Shark Of Mind

In what LANGUAGE and TOOLS should I have knowledge to design wordpress themes like all of you people?
    Can you please reply

  21. goblogging says:

Really great contest! :) I’ll join it,

  22. Hey,
Well, I don’t know how much you already know about it…
But for all web design, you need to know HTML, and for dynamic sites, like blogs and forums, you usually need to know PHP or ASP.
I used HTML and PHP for the Wordpress theme I made.
As for tools used, you can simply use TextEdit or Notepad to edit the code, or you can use WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editors, like Adobe Dreamweaver (expensive) or other cheaper or even free programs.
Using these, you can see what your website looks like, and as you edit parts, you can see it change, how it should look in a browser.
Sorry, I don’t think I’m very good at explaining it :S

There are many tutorials on the Internet that you can use to help you learn to design web pages and themes for Wordpress.
I have been learning for many years, but that’s how I’ve learnt.
So I’d recommend doing some searches on Google :)
    Hope I helped!

  23. Hmm, I forgot to mention CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).

They are used a lot on sites to change how the whole site looks, and contain the information on colors, sizes, styles, and much more, on your whole website…

I use them in all my website designs, and almost every website uses them.
As I said before, you can find any more information you’ll need on the Internet.

  24. m.dinesh says:

    Thank you for the reply
    Shark Of Mind,
I saw your website, you have a good unique theme which is different from other themes.

I know a little bit about HTML because i learned it from tutorials. I liked it because it was very easy.

I will learn css and php from these tutorials.

    Thank you for guiding.

  25. gLf says:

    Post corrected!

  26. Neal says:

Thank you for your efforts in cheapening the web design industry. You make it so easy for professional designers to make a living. Maybe I should hold a contest where people make CMS templates… then I will collect everybody’s submissions and pick which one I like best! That would be great!

Then I could hold a contest to see which doctor could cure my cancer the fastest! The first one to do it gets paid! Awesome!

Oh yeah! Then I could have the gas companies supply me with gas and I will pick the one I like the best! Then I will give them a fee way lower than what it is actually work!

    Is anyone else getting this?

Is this going to be censored? Probably. Oh well.

  27. admin says:

    Neal!
Maybe I’m wrong but it looks like you did not get the idea of the contest.

  28. Haha,
Well, at least that made me laugh…

Although, that isn’t really the point of the contest…
And most of us who entered aren’t really professional web designers (not yet anyway), and we’re prepared to work for less money.

  29. HasH says:

Hmmm.. Finally the contest is over…!.So.,when are the prizes announced.. Am eager to get my Share…!

  30. Yeah…
I wanna see who won the design contest lol :P

  31. Abhinav says:

    Eager to hear
    Who won the contest :)

  32. admin says:

We will announce the winner on the 2nd of September (tomorrow) :)

  33. Hmm, any idea what sort of time? :P

I’ve got Work Experience in a graphics studio, and I’ll be checking this page every 2 minutes lol :P

Good luck to everyone anyway ;)

May the best designer win :D

  34. m.dinesh says:

    Wow,
I am waiting to see who the lucky winner is

  35. Harmen says:

    Well… today it’s 02 - 09 - 2008 :)

  36. Aww…
Please don’t wait until 23:59 this evening to announce the winners :P

  37. [...] delay. Make a blog post about this just like what I did. You may also want to check it out first here before you decide to [...]

  39. Guru says:

    I liked this contest… But I missed the date… Very bad…

Please tell me where I would find details of forthcoming contests…

  40. Melissa Wheeler says:

I know this is completely unrelated to the contest. But I was going to use the photo of the little girl on the top of the page for a school web page for student contests. I was wondering if I had your permission to do so?
